# Node Upgrades

### Increasing Mining Frequency

Users may upgrade their GeoNode to generate proofs more frequently.

More frequent proof generation increases participation and may improve reward opportunities.

Upgrades are permanent protocol-level enhancements applied to a user's GeoNode.

Nodes can be upgraded by burning $NEARBY:

| Tier   | Proof Interval | Capability                 |
| ------ | -------------- | -------------------------- |
| Tier 1 | 6 hours        | Basic mining               |
| Tier 2 | 4 hours        | Increased reward frequency |
| Tier 3 | 2 hours        | High-frequency mining      |
| Tier 4 | 1 hour         | Maximum reward output      |

Upgrades increase:

* Proof frequency
* Reward multiplier
* Network priority weight
