# GeoNode Mechanics

### What Is a GeoNode

A GeoNode is a lightweight software node that operates within the Nearby application.

Each GeoNode can:

* Generate Proofs of Location
* Participate in geolocation mining
* Earn protocol rewards
* Provide witness attestations
* Contribute to network growth

GeoNodes are optimized for mobile devices and are designed to operate efficiently without requiring specialized hardware.

### One User, One Node

Each account is associated with a single GeoNode.

This approach encourages broad participation while reducing unnecessary resource consumption.

The protocol prioritizes geographic coverage and network density rather than hardware competition.

```
The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
